Chapter 152 – Chuunibyou is Totally Fun!

Cain swung his right hand sideways, and a strong wind blew from his swing, causing the foolish son and his friends to lose their balance. They barely withstood falling over and then tried to go past the strong wind by adopting a forward-bent posture, just like how people who went out during typhoons would look like in the local news.

Kielz looked at the one who casted the magic, Cain, who was right next to him. His eyes looked as if they had just witnessed something unbelievable.

Cain noticed Kielz’ stare, yet he didn’t turn around as he continued to look at the direction of the foolish son and his friends with an amused expression.

“O Nelgrandi regions! Near the feudal lord’s castle, a gust of wind will blow violently around noon… And rain will fall in places!!”

He shouted as he swung his arm upward. At the end of the raised arm, his hand was lightly clutched, with the index finger raised.

The foolish son and his friends, Kielz, and the girls behind them were all taken aback by Cain who assumed the Saturday Night Fever pose, as their gazes followed the direction pointed by Cain’s index finger… in other words, they looked up at the sky.

Through the gaps in the trees, they saw a massive mass of water, refracting sunlight into rainbow hues across the leaves.

    “W-water?”

The moment one of the foolish son’s friends muttered, a torrent of water plummeted with a crash. Branches and leaves shook as the water cascaded down.

The foolish son and his friends, who had braced themselves against the wind by assuming a forward-bent posture, were knocked forward by the sheer volume of water, hands slamming into the ground.

They were dumbfounded with their hair and clothes drenched.

Once all the water from the sky had fallen, droplets were falling slowly from the wet tree branches.

The forest floor, though the sky was blue, was damp and dotted with puddles that glittered in the dappled sunlight.

Although the sky was blue, the forest’s ground was damp and wet, with puddles here and there that sparkled as they reflected the sunlight filtering through the trees.

Cain stood before the foolish son, as a splash of water could be heard. With his hands on his waist and his head tilted to one side, he looked down on the foolish son with a broad grin.

“Did that cool your head down?”

The foolish son was flabbergasted, he was on his knees with his hands on the ground as well, and it could be said that he was on all fours as he looked up at Cain.

Cain picked up the end of his braided hair and crouched down on the spot. He peered into the foolish son’s face, his eyes locked on the other’s with a serious expression.

“Let’s have a talk. Calmly, properly, rationally. Let’s have that kind of discussion later.”

Cain spaced his words and said slowly.

Although the corner of his mouth was lifted, his eyes weren’t smiling. Looking at Cain with such expression on, the foolish son couldn’t do anything other than slowly nodding.

As Cain stood up, he flung the braided hair that he grasped just before towards his back, then he turned around and walked lightly towards where everyone was.

Kielz, who had been preparing to counter with his own magic, remained standing with his arms outstretched. Cordelia clung to Sasha, while Diana had her wrist held by Ilvaleno, her arms raised in a ‘banzai’/cheering pose.

“Aren’t we going to beat up the bad people?”

Still with her cheering pose, Diana looked up at Cain and asked with a curious face.

Cain lightly poked Diana’s cheek as he nodded to Diana with a smile that looked like he was having fun.

“We’re not breathing them up. Not here. Limuthburg kingdom is a constitutional state after all.”

    “Consti… tutional state?”

“It means a country where good and bad things are determined by the law. Thus, arbitrarily punishing someone who does bad things is considered bad by the law.”

Cain’s right shoulder was lowered while his left shoulder was lifted, and he looked at Ilvareno with a profound expression. Ilvareno looked back at Cain with a troubled expression.

Ilvareno released Diana’s arms and moved away from her. With her hands now released, Diana’s hands remained like how they were before as she walked towards Cain and hugged him, her head pressed against Cain’s chest.

“Does that mean Niina who defeated bullies is a bad child in a constitutional state?”

“…I see. Diana’s concerned about that, huh?”

Cain patted Diana’s shoulder, encouraging her to walk.
Sasha picked up the basket and carpet she dropped, while Ilvareno picked up the bucket and fishing rods.

As they walked towards the castle, Cain was pondering over what he should tell Diana.

“Hmmm… It’s possible if it’s arresting someone in the act of committing a crime? I wonder if that ‘in flagrante delicto’ arrest law exists here… Maybe it’s different. That’s right…”

    “Onii-sama?”

“That’s right. Hey, Diana. There are no perfect laws. Some people try to exploit loopholes to do bad things. Even when everyone knows those things are bad, the law might not state that they are. Such things can happen.”

“Although it’s a bad thing, it isn’t bad?”

“For example, there is no law stating ‘Do not run in the corridor of Elgrandark ducal estate’. That’s why, even if Diana were to run in the corridor of our estate, the patrol or knights won’t arrest you, and nor will you go to the jail because of it. After all, it isn’t something bad in the legal sense.”

“But, Mother, Pallevant, and Teacher Silas will scold me.”

“Yeah. It’s dangerous to run in the corridor. Diana might fall and get injured, or you might bump into someone else in the corner and injure them. That’s why Mother and Pallevant will scold you. It is a bad thing to run in the corridor because you can injure someone.”

Cain said with a neat expression as he faced Diana.

“That’s why Momotaro helps us eliminate the evil in this world that cannot be judged by law!”

It’s a mix of references, but don’t mind it. There’s no one here who’s going to nitpick the trivial things.

“Perhaps the female knight Niina is there to help the people whom the law cannot protect.”

    “So cool!”

As Cain walked while hugging Diana’s shoulder, he turned towards Kielz while still grinning.

“Kielz, I acted of my own accord and invited them to have tea in the garden this afternoon. Will it be alright?”

    “With them? Having tea?”

“So we can talk. The foo–I mean that person seems to have various misunderstandings? Misconception? If it’s in the castle garden, we can have waiters by our side, so they won’t be able to do anything reckless. And I’m only inviting the foo–that person, so he won’t be able to come bringing his friends along.”

Kielz looked pretty sullen, but Cain had already made the appointment, so he eventually nodded. When Cain turned around, Sasha eagerly nodded and directly answered, “I will arrange it.” She’s quite reliable.

“Now, in that case, let’s return to the castle and eat our lunch. We don’t want to hold the tea party without a plan, after all. So, let’s begin our strategy meeting.”

Cain swung his free hand–the one other than the hand that rested on Diana’s shoulder–and smacked Kielz’s back with a loud voice.
