Chapter 112

Earth Dragon

“Why is the Earth Dragon showing up in such a shallow level? This isn’t the innermost room!”

Frank-san scratched off his corn-colored hair, his hand skillfully avoiding the place where Luan was at.

“Kyuu.”

That’s right. Earth Dragon also showed up in the game, but it’s a monster strong enough that it won’t be an exaggeration to call it the boss of the Earth Labyrinth.

Earth Dragon–a dragon with an earth attribute, its back had many sharp needle-like spikes.

It had the word ‘dragon’ on its name, but it had no wings and had a form similar to a giant hedgehog. The tips of its sharp spikes contained poison and it could hurl its spikes away, it was truly a troublesome monster to fight.

However…

The Earth Dragon could curl up its body and roll it over just like a hedgehog. That’s why, its speed would become a threat in a wide space, but it shouldn’t be able to put its speed to a good use in this kind of complicated path, so even if it were to chase after you, you should be able to run away from it.

Normally, a monster would stop chasing after you once there’s a certain distance between you and the monster.

Despite that, for it to continue chasing after them, I wonder what’s going on?

“It is certainly not a monster that will appear in dungeons with only five levels. Moreover, I’ve never heard of it appearing in such a complicated path. Just what is going on?”

In response to Amanda-san’s doubt, a person that seemed like a senior teacher answered.

“There was a crevice along the dungeon wall in the middle of our journey, and it was so dark that we couldn’t see anything when we tried to peek at it… Thinking that it was the hidden room, we tried to confirm whether or not there was a trap by throwing a rock inside, and that’s when the Earth Dragon suddenly came attacking.”

The teacher spoke until he suddenly coughed. However, it wasn’t a normal cough. There was… blood coming from his mouth!

“Were you poisoned?!”

It was certainly because he was struck by the Earth Dragon’s spike.

We have to quickly detoxify it.

“Cure!”

A white light flew and enveloped the teacher’s body.

After a moment, the teacher looked at me with a surprised expression.

Ah, I see. Being able to hurl Cure isn’t something common here, was it?

“Just now–what was–”

“Let’s save the explanation for later. Let’s hurry and leave first.”

Ar-niisama interrupted the surprised teacher as he looked around intensely.

The students of the knight academy were breathing heavily with ashen complexions, they didn’t seem to be able to fight together with us, no matter how one tried to think about it.

“Yes.”

“Argo. Can you call your summoned beast?”

As Frank-san asked, Ar-niisama raised his right hand before shaking his head.

“The magic circle isn’t lighting up.”

“Is that so? It can’t be helped.”

Nodding at his response, Ar-niisama then began issuing out commands one after another.

“Amanda, take Yuuri and Karin and leave first. Students, you have to absolutely follow after Amanda. Frank, the teacher won’t be able to recover that quickly even if the poison’s been detoxified, so go and aid the teacher. Then, Virna, you and I shall take on the end of the line.”

“Understood. Let’s go, Yuuri-chan. You guys, follow me!”

Amanda-san pulled my hand as we went through the road that we’ve just come from. The students also followed us in a fluster.

That’s right. Perhaps I’d better apply Protect Shield now. We formed a party before entering the Earth Labyrinth so we should be fine, but the people from the knight academy didn’t get the effect of the spell.

I wonder if I’ll be able to apply Protect to them just like what I had applied to myself? I’m not sure, but… I’ll try applying it!

Since there were five people, I should try applying it individually instead of using Area Protect Shield.

“Protect Shield!”

I chanted as we ran, and I knew that the students were surprised by that.

However, the sound of the Earth Dragon rolling over could already be heard, so I’ll save the explanations for later!

“Uwaaaa! It’s hopeless!”

Looking at the Earth Dragon’s figure suddenly appearing before their eyes, one of the students panicked and ran away.

“Wait!”

The student didn’t heed Amanda-san’s command and continued running. And at the end of that direction was–

“Siren Dogs!”

I ended up reflexively shouting.

Not just the Earth Dragon, but there is a herd of Siren Dogs?!

Aren’t they also high-leveled monsters?!

“Woof, woof! Bowwow, bowwowoww!!”

The Siren Dog’s three heads all started to howl in a very loud volume.

This is bad. The monsters are flocking together!

Siren Dogs aren’t that strong of a monster, but true to their name, their role is just like a siren’s. Their howls will alert the whole dungeon of the adventurers’ presence.

That’s why, normally if there are Siren Dogs, the theory is to go through the dungeon without being found by them.

And yet, we ended up running into them head-straight.

To think that we’d be surrounded by monsters all around the dungeon in such a narrow path, and moreover an Earth Dragon is here too…

First, we need to defeat the flock of Siren Dogs that are calling the monsters.

“Everyone, please bend down–!”

The knight academy’s students crouched down simultaneously upon hearing my words.

The student that was panicking had their head pushed by another student who was forcing the panicking student to crouch down.

As expected of a soon-to-be-knight. That’s great!

“Wind Arrow!”

The wind arrows struck the Siren Dogs’ three heads, piercing them one by one.

Yosh. They’re wiped out in one go.

With this, the loud howling is no more.

But before I could revel in relief, a herd of monsters started marching in, blocking our path.

Uuuu… The monsters are already summoned, huh?

“Leave it to me!”

Amanda-san readied her flame sword before going after the herd of monsters with it.

“The Earth Dragon is coming!”

Virna-san’s tense voice could be heard from behind.

“The Earth Dragon will counterattack with its spikes, so don’t strike at it carelessly!”

Ar-niisama readied his water sword.

W-we’re in a pinch!
