Observation Record of a Self-proclaimed Villainess’ Fiance 10.1

For those who didn’t read the chapter post, here is the short information: I will be splitting the chapter. Otherwise I’d have to translate 40 pages of Japanese in one go… As a chapter of this series equals to 40 pages of 11 px Japanese text…

Chapter 10.1

Bertia 16 Years Old (1)

Edit: The white cat magical button has been removed~.

NOTE: Changed Gyafun to Downfall~

Please do tell me if there is any mistake or anything else. I hope you’re happy with my translation ^^

  1. EDIT: The initial text was Gyafun as it was written in Japanese. After considering a few options and looking at the content, it’s settled that the term should be “The Downfall”, referring to a villainess’ downfall at the end of otome game.

It’s always fun to see the contrast between Bertia logic and normal logic. XD
    Thanks for the new chapter!

I became fat! It must be the world fate doing!!
    -_-

    • LynneSuzuran

It would be nice if we can blame the world’s fate as the reason why we got fatter :”D

  8. Night

Thank you for picking this up!

    • LynneSuzuran

      You’re welcome XD

  9. grace

Thank you for the chapter and for picking this up! I think the gyafun refers to bertia ending in the game…?

    • LynneSuzuran

      You’re welcome!
Ah, I wonder what would be the correct English term for Gyafun then…

      • HadLi

Isn’t [gyaafun] an expresion of [depression]?

        • LynneSuzuran

It’s been decided to be [downfall], but it literally means “silencing” XD

  10. iriseintherain

Cecil, you lose your composure when you’re dealing with Bertia because you love her and trust her. Meaning, you let your guard down around your beloved so that’s why your mask will slip at times… Thanks for translating this by the way <3

    • LynneSuzuran

I agree, oh Cecil xD He’s so adorable when he’s with Bertia!
      You’re welcome ^^

  11. RoflCat

“Gyafun” is like the ‘sound’ a villain might say as they fell defeated in a….less serious settings?

Basically she’s referring to her ‘death flag’ event.

    • LynneSuzuran

Ohh, I wonder if I should change it into “death flag” or “falldown” or “endgame”… or leave it as Gyafun?

  12. jokerend

    oh thanks for the chapter
since u have started it dont stop

    • LynneSuzuran

You’re welcome, and I intend to do so as this novel is also my favorite ^^
Supply me with motivation by commenting at the very least, ehehe~

  13. senhiro

Thank you for picking this up! I tried translating it too a while back but only got halfway through the chapter before keeling over due to its length, so I commend you hahaha

About gyafun, I also had no idea… The definition I was able to find was ギャフン – speechlessness, state of being unable to argue. So I took it as when villainess Bertia gets “silenced,” aka the ending event where she gets her judgment for all the crap she pulled?? Not very confident on this though…

    • LynneSuzuran

Yes, I was doubting my sanity when I saw the length of each chapter, so I chose to split it up to retain my sanity and motivation xD

Yeah, the definition didn’t help me to find a suitable term to replace Gyafun, so I let it be “Gyafun” for now until we could settle on a suitable term ;__;/

  14. kisa-chan

Going by the thought of the sentences containing “gyafun”, it’s probably meant as something like meeting her ‘end’. Smacked, thwacked, or the like… but i’m not sure of a better equivalent term in english…

    • LynneSuzuran

Yeah, I tried to find the suitable English term for “Gyafun” but ended up with nothing… ><

  15. Poala Andres

Thank uou for picking it up!! ❤️❤️❤️

    • LynneSuzuran

      You’re welcome XD

  16. Novelana

Ahhhh!!!! It’s back!! I’ve been waiting a long time for this!!! Thank you for picking this up!!??

    • LynneSuzuran

That’s good to know!! I’m not alone in waiting for this novel’s continuation XD

  17. Nishik

Thank you for translating this novel.?
Man, it’s frustrating aswell as satisfying to see the couple’s reaction.

    • LynneSuzuran

Frustrating? Nah, I feel amused whenever I read Cecil and Bertia’s interaction xD
      And you’re welcome~

      • Nishik

Ahh! By frustrating i mean in a sense where you just want to get together already,by clearing their misunderstanding…

  18. Mino Micha

Uwaaaaaah!!! Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you!!! I thought I could only read forward by MTL but I can’t really understand it, now I can read with ease again!! Thank you!!!

    • LynneSuzuran

You’re welcome! xD Yeah, I half-tried to see the MTL result and it was… a mess lol.
I hope that my translation is good enough to convey the RAW’s meaning, although it won’t be 100% accurate ><

  19. EllieKit

Thank you so much for picking this up! I love reading about Bertia’s antics.

    • LynneSuzuran

You’re welcome! I also love her antics XD It never fails to amuse me!

  20. Nareik

I think “gyafun” refers to her “being beaten up cus she’s evil” like she mentioned would happen in the first chapter..

    • LynneSuzuran

Yeah, that sounds like it, but any idea on a good English term to replace Gyafun? xD

  21. Holow

    Thanks for this chapter

    • LynneSuzuran

      You’re welcome~

  22. Nayfa

    Thank you for chapter ????

  23. meiraeve

Thank you so much for picking this up!! >w<

It was so funny to read bertia’s vs common logics! But it became less funny if I read it through Google translate.. XD

    • LynneSuzuran

No problem, I’m glad that I can continue this story ^^ Bertia’s antics deserved more than Google Translate’s translation~!

  24. SaMu

    Thanks for this?
I thought the story about the clueless villainess and her wicked prince

  25. Ved

Whelp, I was reminded of this title after seeing it on your page. So I went back and reread the whole series.

I’m glad you picked it up. To be blunt, the translation quality of the other chapters were spotty. And it really starts to grate on you when you start having to re-edit sentences in your mind as you go.

    • LynneSuzuran

I’m glad to hear that! QAQ
I can understand that, but after I tried reading a MTLed version of the Chinese novel I’m reading, my brain still appreciates any sentence as long as it’s comprehensible enough!! T__T

  26. HatsuMi

    HERE COME THE DEATH FLAG

    • LynneSuzuran

… XD Death Flag, hahaha! If it’s really a game, it’s a “merry bad end” flag, I guess~

  27. Tsuki

The novel seems different from the manga?

  28. Squippie

Thanks for the chapter! I really enjoyed how you translated her reaction to the compliment, 10/10!
